On this occasion an event was held in the school for which three of IITH professors namely Dr. Siva Kumar, Dr. M.V. Panduranga Rao and Dr. Subruk were invited as chief guests. Dr Siva Kumar recounted his own experiences as a government schoolboy and said that the kids need to ask teachers a lot of questions and that is the only way teachers will remain motivated to teach them with more effort. He further said that at least one of them should be his studentduring his tenure at IITH.

Dr. MV Panduranga Rao said that government teachers here are very talented and that it is indeed great that with such fewer infrastructures, they could still manage a school pretty well. Then SiddharthaAyyagari, another IITH Alumni spoke about the how the drive came into being. That the Alumni were motivated to contribute to the society and they wanted to start it near IITH first. So they picked the ODF Zilla Parishad School. It was all planned in a month and they reached the Rs.50,000 goal they set. With this money they built a school level chemical laboratory, bought a computer, water tank to store drinking water, educational charts, biology specimens and teaching models, encyclopaedia and other world knowledge related books.

After the speeches were done, the IITH faculty had a discussion with the Zilla Parishad school teachers on how teaching proficiency can be increased. Naveen Kishore, Siddhartha Ayyagari, Arihant Jain were among the alumni who attended the meeting. While they specially mentioned Akash Kumarapillai, for coordinating the School Drive initiative online and being in touch with the Gymkhana constantly via email.
